There are numerous examples where two separate and distinct species, often with a different numbers of chromosomes, can produce viable hybrid offspring. By sequencing and comparing the complete genomes of the various races of modern humans, with the genomes of archaic species, such as Neanderthals, Homo erectus, Denisovans, and others, we can trace the hybridization which resulted in modern humans.
